Number Madness with Joel

My maths game was called Number Madness. The object of the game is to have the highest number at the end. I had to count backwards and forwards in 10s, 100s and 1000s. I enjoyed this game.

I Spy with Regan

I played the maths game called "I Spy - Addition", it is a card game. When I add 9 plus 3 I calculate a number to 10 first (9 plus 1) and then I add on the difference of 2 to get the correct answer of 12. My strategy was to make it harder for Paula to find the cards so I added 2 cards together that were placed diagonally on the table.

Alana plays Guess My Number

Today in my maths learning I played a game called Guess My Number. Paula wrote a secret number down on a piece of paper and I had to try and guess it! My strategy was to ask questions like "Is the number odd or even?" and the answer was "Even". "Is it between 200 and 400?" and the answer was "Yes". Now I was able to say if it was between 200 and 300 and I kept asking questions until I narrowed it down and guessed the correct answer which was 268.
Now it is my turn to write down a secret number for Paula to guess.

Introduction for the nonsence stories

Room 10 have been doing nonsence stories, to use our creative sence of knowledge into productive writing. We have "key words" that we use in our writing to make our stories more interesting. We write these every few days. Everybodys story is unique in different ways.

Olivias familys nonsence story

(mum) Today all of us went up in a huge rocket to "The Base",when we were there we saw (Ari) Silly monsters and space bananas.(Nana) We had colourful, spotty chocolates and hundred and thousand biscuits to eat. YUMMY!!!. (Uncle Terry) The dady monster had to stay at home and didn't get any chocolate at all. (Aunty Kath) And the cool aunty took them to the DVD shop to get DVD's for everyone. (Claudia) The monsters had popcorn and lollies. (Olivia) The monsters are lucky, cookie, greedy monsters. Then they flew into farmers to buy monster Liv a waist coat and then we went into the wherehouse to buy monster Claude a skirt and a dog called DHarma named after monster McGlones familys dog.

photo evidence

Today we made an action plan to help organise our tasks.I think that we should have a stand at the hall and there should be numbers on the sheet and when you sign up there'll be a number next to your name. We want more people to bring their wheels to school so they can have fun and also to not have so many cars at our drop off area.

Nonsense Story

It was the first day of the term. I woke up and found myself on a flying car.
The car driver told me that he was going to take me where swirly ice-cream
can make his own land. But the next thing you know, I randomly ended up
eating a banana on an escalator. - Chloe

Get Your Skates On......or Scooter...or Bikes....or ????!!!

This week we are lucky enough to have Nathanial Benefield visit our classroom to talk about signage and ideas to make our Friday Wheels Days even better. Laura invited him via email and now we have also contacted him (thanks to Cameron J who risked all and made the phone call) to invite him to our school hangi which is now on the same day as Nathanial's visit.

Thanks also to Jamie Allen - what a great presentation you shared with us. That helmet message using goanimate was gorgeous but of course with a serious message to it as well. Our helmet checkers will be doing a great service to keep Frankley-ites safe and sound.

There's Something in the Water.........

This week seems to be centred around the water. We have our daily swimming at 9.40 so remember to bring your togs - even if you think that the weather is a bit doubtful. On Thursday we will be going to the aquatic centre for our lessons with the specialists and then on Friday it is the famous Frankley School picnic. The weather forecast looks fantastic for this so encourage all your mums and dads and rellies to come and join us for lunch. I like latte if anyone is stopping off at a cafe on the way!!!!!

Another fantastic day in Taranaki and 30 gorgeous minds ready to learn in Room 10. Welcome to you all and I am looking forward to working with you all this year. Great to have Chloe join us and I know that everyone will work hard to make her happy in her new environment.

I bet Tayla is having a super-duper holiday and we look forward to completing our class when she joins us next week.

Look after your 'pet' tomorrow with Mrs Dunlop and I will catch you all on Thursday.
